“How do you choose to crown your head?”

Whatever your reason for arriving at Alopaca, know that you have a choice.

For the 8.5 million women in the UK that are experiencing hair loss, it’s easy to forget that choice is available. When the option to wear your hair as you’d like it, is removed through genetics, illness or stress, .decision making can feel daunting and solutions limited.

This was me back in 2024. After a life time of occasional patches, my Alopecia stepped up a gear and, within a relatively short space of time, I’d lost around 50% of my hair. Looking round at the available options there wasn’t a single one that sat comfortably … literally or metaphorically. So when a wonderful (and wise) friend suggested that I could still choose how to crown my head, I set to work creating a solution that offered both softness and security. That was both beautiful and practical. That allowed me to face the world with confidence and comfort. That would help me to show up happy and relaxed in every situation.

Alopaca house hats were inspired by a commitment to self-compassion, creativity and choice.

And so it was that these gorgeous little knits came into being. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.
